'A move to Spurs could' – Club insider makes interesting claim about former Tottenham player’s potential return

Tottenham Hotspur have been making plans for the upcoming season as the current campaign draws to a close this week.

With a number of players expected to leave and several new arrivals anticipated, the club is prioritising key positions to strengthen their squad.

Tottenham’s primary focus in the transfer window is sai to be on signing a couple of attackers, including an out-an-out striker, a midfielder, a centre-back, and a new full-back.

The full-back crisis at Tottenham

The club faces a full-back crisis with all of their left-backs currently sidelined by injuries. While Destiny Udogie will be back for next season,  Ryan Sessegnon and Ben Davies are expected to be let go at the end of the season, leaving the Italian as the only option on the left side.

On the right side, Pedro Porro has established himself as a key player under manager Ange Postecoglou. However, Emerson Royal, who has struggled to impress Ange, is likely to be sold this summer, leaving a gap that needs to be filled.

Kyle Walker-Peters Linked with Return

Rrecent rumours have linked Spurs with their former defender, Kyle Walker-Peters, who is currently playing for Southampton.

Club insider and lawyer John Wenham has expressed confidence that the English right-back would be eager to rejoin the Lilywhites.

Walker-Peters, whose contract at St Mary’s Stadium expires next season, has been a consistent performer under Southampton manager Russell Martin. He started in 45 games in the Championship this season, contributing three goals and three assists.

Wenham explains why Walker-Peters would want a Spurs reunion

In an interview with Tottenham News, John Wenham explain why he thinks Kyle Walker-Peters will be keen on returning to North London.

He highlighted that Tottenham, being a significantly larger club compared to Southampton, offers a greater platform and exposure. Wenham also pointed out the strategic career benefits for Walker-Peters, including a potential re-entry into the England national team setup.

Wenham said:

“Some people have asked me why Walker-Peters would want to return.

“Firstly, Tottenham are a ginormous club compared to Southampton.

“This season we have played such few games and there have still been several injury issues.

“There will be plenty of minutes to go around next season, and Walker-Peters will be thinking that a move to Spurs could get him back in the England squad.”

Ange Postecoglou is keen to add depth to the full-back positions, particularly with the current injuries to Udogie and the anticipated departure of Royal.

Walker-Peters’ ability to play on either flank makes him an attractive option for Tottenham, providing much-needed versatility and reliability in defence.
